Ravens are fascinating, highly intelligent creatures. Their ability to use logic, their memory, and intentional use of tools, are all remarkable.

They can use sophisticated non-vocal signals, such as pointing with their beaks, or holding objects to get each other’s attention. They even offer “gifts” to another, and will handle the object together, beak to beak.

They mate for life, are rarely seen alone, and are both very playful and clever! They’ve been seen rolling down snowy hills, playing keep-away with other animals, pretending to hide food in one place but secretly hiding it somewhere else, or even playing dead.

They can mimic various animal and mechanical sounds, and some even learn to imitate human speech as accurately as parrots.
