As herbivores, White-Tailed Deer are part of the essential middle link in the food chain between plants and the carnivorous predators that hunt them. They raise their tails when they are on the alert, flashing their white undersides - giving them their name. Though they may appear dainty, they are speedy and agile - they can sprint up to 30 miles per hour, and leap as high as 10 feet tall and as far as 30 feet, in just one bound!
